Services for Mary Ellen “Mutt” Cole, 90, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Rick Garrett will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Ms. Cole passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted Living Center. She was born October 25, 1925 in Coal County to John and Mary Frazier Cole. She attended Pleasant Hill grade school and graduated from Clarita High School in 1943.

Ms. Cole was the Office Personnel Supervisor at J. C. Penney’s, retiring after 42 years of service. She started working for J. C. Penney’s in downtown Ada in 1949. Ms. Cole was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Ada charter chapter, Gamma Sigma of Beta Sigma Phi which was formed in 1951.

Survivors include two nieces, Virgie Garrett and Mary Johnson and her husband Roger; nephew, Douglas Denson and wife Emma Lou; great-nieces, Marie Garrett and husband Bob Carbaugh and Joyce West and husband Dan; great-nephews, Rick Garrett and wife Sherri, Steve Denson, Kent Denson and wife Cari, John Denson and wife Hillary and Jason Tiger; 18 great-great-nieces and nephews; and a best friend of many years, Sara Bartcher.

Bearers will be her nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks to the Brookdale employees and McCortney Family Hospice.
