Verna Mae (Perkins) Cannon

Services for Verna Mae Cannon will be held at Criswell Funeral Home at 10:00 am on July 19th, 2022. Mr. Floyd Kaiser will officiate assisted by Mr. David Dirrim.

Verna was born on September 2nd, 1944 in Pearson, OK to William Vernon and Eula Mae (Henry) Perkins. She passed away on July 15th, 2022 in Ada, OK. Verna was a longtime faithful member of the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada.

As a young child she moved with her parents and three siblings Bill, Fred and Pat, to Nowata, OK where she attended elementary school. The family then moved to Ada where Verna attended Ada Jr. High, Horace Mann School and she graduated from Ada High School in 1962.

Verna married Troy Eugene Cannon on October 4, 1963 at Roff, OK. She graduated from East Central University and went on to get her masters degree in education there as well as a certification in psychometry.
The Cannons later moved to Coalgate where Verna taught at Emerson Elementary School for 20 years until she retired in 2003.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, her 9-year-old son, Troy Dean Cannon and her sister Pat Smith.

She is survived by her husband Eugene of Ada, OK; her daughter Laura and husband Steven of Lindsay, OK and her son Ernie of Ada, OK. Verna also has 6 grandchildren: Kylar Merrell of Ada, Trace Merrell and his wife Jessica of Lindsay, Kaden Merrell of Portales, NM, Torii Merrell of Lindsay and Shawn and Lexis Cannon of Ada.

Bearers will be David Hendricks, Butch Platt, Jeff Butler, Cody Frye, Bill Smith and Gary Guinn.
