Services for Harold Lloyd McWhorter, 95, of Ada will be 2:00 p.m, Thursday, June 21st at the Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ada, officiated by Charlie Murphy, Tony Cook and Duawn Mearns. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada. The family will receive visitors at Criswell Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

Harold Lloyd McWhorter died surrounded by family at home on June 17th, 2018. He was born on October 13, 1922, to Thomas Earl and Vada Belle (Dean) McWhorter in Milburn, Oklahoma. He graduated from Milburn High School, and eventually enlisted in the Navy at 22. He was stationed in the Philippines during World War II. After returning to the States he was employed in Los Alamos, New Mexico. On October 13, 1947, he returned home to Tishomingo to visit the love of his life, Janet Presley. He picked her up from school and along with another couple they eloped that evening and were married by a Justice of the Peace in Sherman, Texas. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in October of 2017. They returned to Ada after the birth of their second daughter, where Harold began a lifelong career in the construction business, erecting and remodeling many homes and businesses still in the area today.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Vada McWhorter, a sister, Bonnie Geraldine and two brothers, Lloyd and Earl McWhorter, and a great-grandson Patrick Charles Murphy.

Harold is survived by his wife, Janet McWhorter, of the home; his brothers, Bob McWhorter and his wife Bonnie, of Moore, OK, and Kenneth McWhorter and his wife Vivian of Ada, OK; a daughter, Janie Murphy and her husband Charlie of Clinton, OK, and their three daughters, Amy (and Jason) Skaggs of Enid, OK, Rebecca Murphy of Clinton, OK, and Shelley (and Tony) Cook of Clinton, OK, another daughter, Judy Davidson and her husband Ronnie of Ada, OK, their daughter, Karen (and Luke) Turner of Ada, OK, and son Jake (and Jenny) Davidson of Austin, TX; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ron Davidson, Jake Davidson, Jason Skaggs, Luke Turner, Mike McWhorter, and Marc McWhorter.
