Graveside services for Hortense Tijerina Mayes, 86, of Stonewall are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery.
Mrs. Mayes died Friday, May 15, 2020 at her home. She was born December 24, 1933 in Seguin, TX to Fidel and Rita Rodriguez Tijerina.
She married Harmon Arthur Mayes, Sr. May 4, 1953 in Seguin, TX. He preceded her in death in 2008. She was homemaker, a Catholic, enjoyed housework and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Eusebio Davilla and wife Annette, Mobile, AL and Harmon A. Mayes, Jr., Stonewall; three daughters, Beatrice Olney and husband Matthew, Wewoka, Rita Breedlove and Steve Rolen, Stonewall, and Bernadine Mayes Yott, Stonewall; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 9 great, great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Nathan Eric Mayes; daughter, Yolanda Schaler; sister, Adela Schaler; four brothers, Henry, Rudy, Joe, and Fidel Tijerina, Jr.; and grandson, Matthew David Olney.
Bearers will be Steve Rolen, Eusebio Davilla, Ryan Olney, Kainan Nolen, Raiden Nolen and Timmy Large.
