Obituary:
Jackie Lee "Jack" Rhoten, Jr, 54, of Bache, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2023 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Raymond Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Service arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Pallbearers will be William Patton, Kent Woods, John Lloyd Whetsel, Bobby Camp, Michael Hendrix, and Jarred Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Wade Craig, Lane Hendrix, Luke Bookout, Alex Whitlock, James Hendrix, Johnny Gray, Clint James, and Dave Miller. Jack was born on October 20, 1968 in Oklahoma City to Jackie Lee Rhoten, Sr. and Samantha Jane (Arnold) Rhoten. He graduated at Savanna Schools in 1986 where he also played football for the Savanna Bulldogs. After graduating high school, Jack became a United States Marine in 1987. He served in Operation Desert Shield and received an honorable discharge as a Lance Corporal in 1990. Jack loved his job as a MILVAN container handler at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. He was an avid football fan rooting for the black and gold of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Boomer Sooners of OU. He found joy in shooting guns, hiking, and fishing. He expressed his love for others through the gifts he gave with his kind heart and infectious laugh. He is preceded in death by his father: Jackie Lee Rhoten, Sr. Jack is survived by his son: Austin Rhoten of Blanco; mother: Samantha Hess of Weatherford, Texas; sisters: Twyla Duran of Round Rock, Texas, Treasur Rollins of Oklahoma City, Robyn Herrell of Oklahoma City; brother: Christopher Rhoten of Arlington, Texas; nieces and nephews: Tiearra Bennett and family of Belton, Missouri, Joshua Newport and family of Moore, Elijah Duran and family of Oakley, California, Steven Herrell of Oklahoma City, Katelyn Rhoten of Arlington, Texas; stepdaughters: Leah Blanco and Debralee Blanco; foster brother: John Lloyd Whetsel of McAlester; foster niece: Johnna Whetsel; good friend: Michael Hendrix and wife, Kimberly of McAlester; Michael’s children: Hailey and Alex Whitlock of McAlester, Luke Bookout of McAlester, Lane Hendrix of McAlester; best friends: Kent Woods of McAlester, William Patton; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other family members, McAAP family, and friends.
