Dortha B. (Johnson) Speer Randy, 90, of McAlester, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 1, 2015 after a fourteen year battle with Alzheimer's. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. Chilles Hutchinson. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Born May 9, 1924 in Stuart, Dortha was one of seven children of Goldie and Alta (Free) Johnson. She was a graduate of Stuart High School. Dortha married Jess W. "Tag" Speer of Stuart in 1943. They had two daughters: Sheila Hollowell, now residing in Lakeland, Florida, and Vicki Weaver of Monterey, California. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1959. Divorcing after a 23 year marriage, Dortha moved to Ojai, California where she met and married Frank Randy, of Rochester, New York in June of 1977. Later they lived near Padre Island, Texas and in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was a long time beautician and business owner. Dortha is survived by 4 grandchildren: Margaret Treviso of Concorde, California, Dahlia Smith of Hollywood, California, Jason Smith of Orlando, Florida, and Timothy Smith of Southern Pines, North Carolina. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren as well as a brother: Ottie G. Johnson of Stillwater; sister: Marilyn Wilcox of Little Rock, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews including Larry Bishop and Sherron Hearod of McAlester, who have cared for her steadfastly during the many years of her illness. She was preceded in death by her parents: Goldie and Alta Johnson; her husband: Frank Randy on December 9, 1996; the father of her children: Jess W. "Tag" Speer on March 12, 1998; and four siblings.
