David was born on May 1, 1945, in McAlester, Oklahoma to William and Dorothy (Thacker) Janes. He lived a full life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his passion for mechanics. David graduated from Indianola High School in 1963 and immediately answered the call of duty by joining the Army on June 9, 1963. He married his wife, Mary Lewis on July 10, 1965 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. David's work ethic was unparalleled. During the two years he and his beloved wife, Mary, lived in Okmulgee, he worked for Ross Silvey Motors, INC. The couple then returned to McAlester, where David took over as an Auto Mechanic at McCann Chevrolet. After his release from active duty, he continued to serve his country as an Auto Maintenance Helper for the Army National Guard of Oklahoma, dedicating 35 years to the service. His commitment to education and skill development led him to graduate from OSU Technical College in Okmulgee, where he specialized in Tech Auto Mechanics. A man of many interests, David was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love for working on cars, tractors, and lawn mowers was well-known, as he could often be found fixing them up, making sure they ran smoothly. His knowledge of auto construction was profound, and he was incredibly smart when it came to auto work. David was the epitome of a hard worker, always ready to lend a hand or share his expertise. He leaves behind a legacy of love and perseverance, survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Janes of the home; his son, David Janes and his wife, Rachel; his daughter, Brandy Janes; and his adoring grandchildren, Rebekah Lyn Janes, Isaiah Janes, Davah Janes, Trinity Janes, Bo Janes, Johnnzy Janes, and Austin Clary, all of McAlester. His life was enriched by their love and the joy they brought him. David is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Janes, and his brother from another mother, Paul Hamilton. David Wallace Janes's life was one of unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his passion. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories told by those who knew him best.
