Benjamin Franklin Jones

The families of James and his brother, John L. removed to Indian Territory about 1846 from Alabama. They lived in the Mooshulatubbee District of the Choctaw Nation by 1849" Dave Ashworth.

From Emigration Roll of 1847, meaning the from the US to I.T. Oklahoma, Include on the list, #54 Alexander M. Brashear, #55 John Jones, #56 James F. Jones. They were "traveling with the Itoonla's party Sixtowns." Sandra Riley.

"I think it was the Winter of 1848 that John Jones landed at Fort Coffee. There was a good deal of trouble about them getting off the boat, in regards to their passage fees. Mrs. John Jones, mother of Benjamin Jones, went to a box and unlocked it and got out a bag of money and paid the passage fees to the clerk of the boat. Mr. Jones's family were the only Indians that got off the boat at the time mentioned. signed James Thompson 13 July 1876"

James's family later moved to Dallas Co. AR. They were listed on the 1860 census for that area. James and Sarah had 10 children, George, Laura Ann, (Mike's line), Emaline, Lucy Ann, (Dave's line), Walter, Lugelia, James S, Clara, Sarah, Katherine.

On the web page "The Choctaw Brashears" they list the parents of James F. as John Jones and Laura Adams. Also I guess this information is in Charles's book, of which I have ordered a copy. Jerry G. Arndt
