Nioma Ludean Yott

Nioma Ludean Yott, or Lu as everyone knew her, passed away on February 13, 2017. She leaves behind the love of her life, George Yott, to whom she was married for 60 years. They met in McAlester while George was stationed at the McAlester Navy Base. They raised their 3 children: Ken, Tracy, and Julie. Lu taught religious education and worked with the youth of both Holy Rosary in Hartshorne and St. John's in McAlester. She was one of the founding members of the Oklahoma Cursillo movement. Lu worked for Farmer's Home Administration for 5 years. After her time there, she worked for Phoenix Federal. She is survived by her husband: George Yott; her brother: Milton Hogan of Tulsa; sister: Mildred Thompson of Haywood; sister-in-law: Barbara Yott of Fairlawn, Ohio. Also, her children and their spouses: Ken and Cheryl Yott of McAlester, Ken and Tracy Matthews of McAlester, and Julie and Danny Brennan of Tulsa; and she was loved dearly by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Bishop Chapel of Memories, led by Deacon Danny Brennan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Krebs celebrated by Rev. Kingsley George-Obilonu. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in McAlester. Pallbearers will be Allen Mann, Al Ross, Ron Monsour, Josh Jeffries, Vince Greuel, and Tim Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Derischweiler, Joe Massaro, Phillip Stizza, Bob Woolman, Bob Basolo, and Paul Zoller. Arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
