The hearts of many Hartshorne people were saddened on Friday morning by the news of the death of one of the town's finest and most beloved young men, Mr. Roscoe Winslow.

Mr. Winslow had been in failing health for more than a year, and his malady refused to yield to the ablest, medical skill.

Last winter he made a visit to the higher altitudes of Arizona, hoping to find relief in the purer atmosphere of those regions, but travel to afforded the sufferer no relief. Returning to Hartshorne, he made a long hard fight to hold off that last foe of our humanity.

Through months of suffering, though confined to his home constantly, he preserved a remarkable spirit of cheerfulness and fortitude. But it was manifest to the many friends who visited his sick room that his vitality and strength were gradually falling and at last near 2 o'clock last Friday morning, the struggle came to an end, and the nobel young spirit, serving its bonds with mortal flesh, went forth to find its eternal resting place in the bosom of God.

Roscoe Winslow met death in the prime of early manhood. He was born November 13, 1891, and lived to be twenty-two years four months and five days of age. His departure is mourned by a mother and father and several brothers and sisters, all of whom reside in or near Hartshorne. Many devoted friends unite in warm and tender sympathy for the bereaved.

The funeral services were held at the family residence on West Pennsylvania Avenue late Friday afternoon, and the interment occurred in the city cemetery under the auspiecs of the Woodman of the World, in which fraternity Mr. Winslow had held membership for nearly three years.

Beautiful floral offerings suggestively testified to the love and esteem with which the deceased was regarded by his friends and neighbors.
