Ruby Spears Thompson

MATADOR - Ruby Spears Thompson, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Felton Gilmore, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Hartshorne, Pittsburg County, Okla., and moved to Motley County in 1926. She graduated from Matador High School in 1929 and worked as a bookkeeper in the family ginning business. She married Manly Thompson in 1940; he died in 1970. They operated the Spears Gin and Thompson Feed and Seed Co. until retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Thompson of Hurricane, Utah, and David Thompson of Garland; two daughters, Loretta Thompson of Rockwall and Kate Thompson Hurt of Matador; two sisters, Gladys Smallwood of Hurst and Faye Swaringen of Dickens; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
