H.K. Sorrels, Jr. 89 of Kiowa died Sunday, January 9, 2022 in McAlester with his sons by his side. The family will greet friends and relatives 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January, 13, 2022 at the Kiowa First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jim Ray. Burial will follow at Kiowa Cemetery, Kiowa, OK. Pallbearers will be, David McClendon, William Drake, Don McClendon, Gary Hall, Kenny Stites, and Joe Clifton. Honorary pallbearers will be, Wayne Caldwell, Ralph McClendon and Lance Hass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the Oklahoma Junior Cattleman's Association, in memory of H.K. Sorrels payable to the Cattleman's Foundation, P O Box 82395, Oklahoma City, OK 73148. H.K was born to H.K. and Flora Mae (Coffey) Sorrels on February 5th, 1932 in Gould, Oklahoma. He graduated from Kiowa High School. H.K. married Wanda Lucille McClendon on August 27, 1951 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He worked for Shell Oil Company in Odessa, Texas and then for General Motors in Arlington, Texas until retiring. He then started Sorrels Brangus in Kiowa. He loved raising cattle and working on the ranch. He was a long-standing member of the Oklahoma Cattleman’s association. H.K. was a member of the Kiowa First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.K and Flora Mae Sorrels; wife, Wanda Lucille Sorrels on May 15, 2020; brothers, Vona Keith Sorrels and Melvin Sorrels. H.K. is survived by his sons, Larry Sorrels and wife, Diana; Jerry Sorrels and wife, Gloria all of Kiowa; grandchildren, Keith Sorrels, Laura Kelly and husband, Daniel, Tonya Francies and husband, Freddie, Melissa Shields and husband, Dustin; great grandchildren, Madison, Kelley, Claire Kelley, Zoe Boatright, Mariska Shields, Mikey Shields, Clyde Shields, Shannon Francies, Shane Francies; sister, Mary Stites; brother-in-law, Ralph McClendon and wife, Marian; sister-in-law, Helen McClendon; special friends, Misty Feehan and Wrigley Feehan; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
