Karen Sue (Haynes) Pope, 63, of McAlester, died Sunday, December 25, 2016 at McAlester Regional Health Center. Karen was born on August 24, 1953 in Port Hueneme, California to James Edward & Mary Alice (Jones) Haynes. In 1966, the family moved to Kiowa, where she attended school and graduated from Kiowa High School in the Class of 1972. She is survived by her children: Pennie Osborne and husband, Jim of Shreveport, Louisiana, Rachel Dietz and husband, Seth of Ft. Hood, Texas, and Daniel Higham and wife, Robin of Camp Humphreys, Korea. And, grandchildren: Desiree Stephenson, Eddie Osborne, Christopher Higham, Hailey Higham, Quentin Dietz, and Kaden Dietz; her mother: Mary Haynes of McAlester; brother: Mike Haynes and wife, Cathy of Kiowa; sisters: Leanne Blevins and husband, Billy of Longview, Texas, Cheryl Wheeler and husband, Sam of Independence, Kansas,; and numerous nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her father: James Haynes, and her son: Joshua Higham. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Kiowa Cemetery Pavilion in Kiowa with Pastor Linda Snider officiating.
