Gloria Ann (Ranallo) Mattioda, 89, of Hartshorne, OK passed away on January 1, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. Born August 9, 1932, in Hartshorne, she was the daughter of Lige and Anna Ranallo. Gloria started her career as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone, but her strong devotion to her Catholic Faith inspired her aspiration to become a nun and she was accepted into Saint Philomena’s Technical School, Saint Louis, MO, in October 1951. However, her life’s calling changed when she met Tony Mattioda, who would become her husband of more than 62 years. Tony and Gloria were married on November 16, 1952 and had eight children. Gloria worked as a librarian and bookkeeper for the Hartshorne Public School system for 19 years, in addition to managing the family’s full-service gas station. She was a life-long member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Tony Mattioda, her parents, Lige and Anna Ranallo; great-grand daughter MacKenna Faith Mattioda, sisters Margaret Burk, Phyllis (Mena) Oliver, Dorthy Hubbard and brothers, James (Jim), Thomas (Tom), Robert, Lige Jr., John and Donald Ranallo. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria (Vickie) and Jim Rager, of Hartshorne, Mary Mattioda of Hartshorne, and Carolyn and Richard Crockett of Las Vegas, Nevada; sons and daughters-in-laws, Sam and Bettie Mattioda, of Hartshorne, Anthony and Diana Mattioda, of McAlester, John Mattioda, of Hartshorne, Dr. Andrew Mattioda of San Jose, California and Eddie and Angie Mattioda of Broken Arrow. Gloria’s beloved family included 17 grandchildren, Russell Angeli, Mike Angeli, Brad Mattioda, Benny Mattioda, Bobby Mattioda, Lindsay Harris, Nick Mattioda, Mitch Mattioda, Matthew Mattioda, Molly Mattioda, Adam Crockett, Lily Mattioda, Elizabeth Farmer, Blake Mattioda, Brady Mattioda, Bryce Mattioda and Brock Mattioda; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Pat and Dave Youngblood of Tulsa, brother and sister-in-law Frank and Sandi Ranallo of Hartshorne, brother-in-law, George Syth, Waukesha, Wisconsin as well as numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Glory.” A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne with Father Leonardo Medina officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne. Pallbearers will be her sons, Sam Mattioda, Anthony Mattioda, John Mattioda, Andrew Mattioda, Edward Mattioda, and grandson, Russell Angeli. Gloria’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Holy Rosary Cemetery Fund in Hartshorne.
