Jack H. Mason, 86, of Elm Point, died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at McAlester Regional Health Center. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. Alvin Nixon and Steve Hammontree officiating. Interment will be at Crowder Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Jack was born on December 13, 1928 in Blocker to John Henry & Flossie Gragg Mason. He attended school in Blocker. He joined the United States Air Corps during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Guam. After the war he married Alma Burke on October 7, 1950 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They lived in Escondido, California for 8 years where they owned and operated Mason Landscaping. They returned to Pittsburg County in 1961 and have lived here ever since. Jack worked for the U.S. Army Ammunition Depot for over 20 years and worked as a railroad engineer. He was a long time member of the Blocker Baptist Church and joined the Masonic Lodge #9 on May 10, 1955. Jack loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his son & daughter-in-law: Dale & Kathy Mason of Elm Point; grandchildren: Michelle Mason of Elm Point, Brian Mason of Tulsa, A.J. & Brooke Mason of Krebs; great-grandchildren: Levi Mason of Elm Point, Timber Jo Wood of Elm Point, Shylie Mason of Krebs, Asher Mason of Krebs. Also, sisters-in-law: Clariece Chapman of Frisco, Texas, Oleta Burke of Krebs, Roxie Mason of Wainwright; brother-in-law & spouse: Leon & Flo Burke of Hartshorne; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Alma Mason on November 24, 2001; and 11 brothers & sisters. Pallbearers will be Dean Burke, Dale Burke, Daniel Burke, Michael Huff, Scott Ward, and Dennis Mason.
