Leona Nadine (Russell) Vest, age 73 of the Five Mile Community near Kiowa, OK died on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her home. Viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Pittsburg Cemetery with Rev. Bob Desure officiating, burial will follow. Leona Nadine was born May 19, 1943 in the Five Mile Community, Ok to L.J. and Hazel (Stites) Russell. As a child her family moved to Taft, California where she graduated from Taft High School. Leona worked for a doctor's office as a secretary. In 1988, she returned to Oklahoma and worked a number of places including; as a secretary for Credit Bureau, McAlester Regional Health Center and the Oaks. In 2009, she retired from Walmart working as a cashier. Leona married Bobby Gene Vest on August 31, 1990 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Kiowa Assembly of God Church for 27 years. Leona enjoyed making crochet blankets and walking with her dog around the pond. Leona is survived by her husband, Bobby Vest of the home, a son, David Wallace of Krebs, a brother, Hap Russell of Taft, CA and Numerous nieces and nephews including, Allison Pennington and husband, Brian, Ken Hyde, Steve Hyde and wife, Danitra and Juanita Kinyon. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Louie Russell and a sister, LaVelle Hyde.
