Georgia LaVelle (Russell) Hyde, age 76, died peacefully at home in her bed on the morning of August 14, 2016 in Kiowa, Oklahoma after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. LaVelle was born on March 5, 1939 in Kiowa, Oklahoma to Lewis Jasper "L.J." and Hazel (Stites) Russell. LaVelle lived with her family in Savanna during most of her childhood and then relocated to Fellow, California. She graduated high school from Taft, California and attended L.I.F.E. Bible College in Los Angeles where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Hyde. She married Ken in 1960 and had two kids, Steve born in 1962 and Allison born in 1964. LaVelle's loves were family, friends and being in ministry with her husband Ken for over 56 years. She and Ken pastored in Kansas, Oregon and California. During 1976-1978 she traveled with Ken and her kids across the United States singing and ministering in music. It was her passion to serve Jesus and to be an example of His love to people of all walks of life. LaVelle is survived by her husband Ken Hyde, her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Danitra Hyde, her daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Brian Pennington as well as her grandkids, Ashley Pennington, Haley Pennington, Emilee Pennington and Jonathan "J.J." Pennington. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Bobby Vest and brother Happy "Hap" Russell. LaVelle's Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 22nd at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel. There is a viewing set for Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. LaVelle will be laid to rest alongside her mother Hazel, father L.J. and brother Louis Russell at Pittsburg Cemetery.
