He was born on Oct. 2, 1929, in Dewitt, Ark., to James M. Toland and Florence [Watkins] Toland. His mother died at a young age and he was raised by his stepmother, Daisy. He had two great loves in his life, his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his wife, Wanda.
At the tender age of 16, Bob gave his life to the Lord and was baptized. He spent the remainder of his life studying the word of God, serving his fellow man and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He performed countless weddings and funerals and helped start several congregations throughout the United States. The number of people he baptized is unknown because he stopped counting at 250.
At the age of 18, he married Wanda L. McCoy on Aug. 7, 1948, in Dewitt. Together they raised three children and enjoyed three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and grew more in love with each passing year.
Though he only completed the sixth grade, he was a well-respected Biblical scholar, pastor and successful businessman. He diligently supported his family and his church and gave generously throughout his life to people in need. Brother Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and children, Linda Louise, Randal David and Roxy Ann Toland.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Toland, of Stillwater; one daughter, Diane Lane and her husband, Roger, of Stillwater; one grandson, Shane Toland and his wife, Maricel, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two granddaughters, Brandi J. Waits and her husband, Mark, of Stillwater and Myka Lane of Stillwater; three great grandchildren, Aaron Toland, Heather Toland and Jackson Waits; one brother, Troy Toland and his wife, Nina, of Cushing; one sister, Lavina Wilkinson of Henryetta; a host of nieces and nephews; and countless Brethren in Christ.
Two weeks before his death, at his 60th wedding anniversary celebration, he stated, "The keys to a successful life are church, God and a good woman…I got it all."
Active pallbearers will be Chris Toland, Tyler Toland, Danny McCoy, Raymond Gensman, Jerrod Gensman and Brian Gensman. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike McCoy, Harry Wilkinson and Billy Toland.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Church of the Firstborn, 404 E. 92nd Ave., Stillwater, OK 74074.
