Wallace D. "Wally" Smith
October 28, 1940 ~ January 25, 2019


Wallace D. Smith "Wally", 78, of Stillwater, passed away Friday, Jan 25, 2019.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 with family greeting friends from 5-7pm at Strode Funeral Home. Casket will be open prior to service beginning at 1pm. Services will be at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1023 E Will Rogers, Stillwater, OK. with Reverend Henry Siems and Reverend Shane Rackley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Wally was born October 28, 1940 to Wallace and Dessie Smith in Cleo Springs, OK.

He grew up in Enid, then moved to Stillwater to be near the love of his life, Delores Tarlton. They were married February 11,1960 in Arkansas City, KS and celebrate 58 years of marriage.

Upon moving to Stillwater, Wally worked at a service station then became an auto mechanic. Beginning in 1971, he worked as the Automotive Manager for Montgomery Ward for 10 years. He moved into the security field and then owned Stillwater Private Security and Investigations for 16 years, retiring in 2007.

Retirement for Wally meant reading, having coffee at IHOP and spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He also enjoyed his travels with Delores to Europe and Israel.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bobby; five sisters, Avice, Norma, Reba, Yevonne and Winnie Mae and one great-grandchild, LaShawnah.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Terry and wife Denise of Shawnee and Eric and wife Jennifer of Tulsa; one daughter, Debbi Kemp and husband Phillip of Stillwater; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss Wallys wonderful sense of humor and fun-loving spirit.
