Arletta J. Williamson
October 9, 1918 ~ July 13, 2013

Arletta J. Williamson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday evening, July 13, 2013, in the Red Bud Assisted Living Center in Perkins, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years.

Arletta J. [Gearhart] Williamson, the youngest of five daughters, was born on October 9, 1918, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Charles Thomas and Edna Angeline [Woodson] Gearhart.

As a young girl she moved with her family to Cushing, Oklahoma, for a short time before settling in Vinco, Oklahoma, where she grew up in a house in the side of a hill.

At a young age she loved to sing and performed with a group that sang and entertained at functions around the area. One of her favorite songs to perform was "Nothing But a Big Wax Doll" which she enjoyed singing for her family and friends.

After completing the eighth grade in a one room schoolhouse in Vinco, she completed her education by graduating from Perkins High School as her class Salutatorian.

She married the love of her life, Robert Jarome "Bob" Williamson in Chandler, Oklahoma, on June 15, 1936, and they just celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary.

She served her family as a homemaker until her children were grown at which time she began helping her husband with the family business, Bob's Grill.

In addition to being a loving mother, wife and friend, Arletta served as a Campfire Leader, Cub Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She loved to work in the yard, tending her flowers, traveling and spending time with friends as a snowbird in South Texas. She also enjoyed entertaining her Gearhart and Williamson families and playing board games with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She saw many changes in her life. From using a scrub board and washing clothes by hand, to a ringer washer and hanging clothes on an outside line; to an automatic washer and dryer. She went from watching silent movies to watching videos of her great grandchildren. She experienced an ice box cooled by ice to a modern refrigerator; from sweeping the rug to vacuuming the carpet; and from a crank up Victrola to a modern CD player. The one thing that never changed in her life was the love for her family, her church and her friends.

She is survived by her husband of seventy-seven years, Bob Williamson of Blackwell; a son, Robert “Bob” Williamson of Blackwell; a daughter, Carletta Webb and husband Tommy of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Tamara Webb Blackburn of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Vance Webb and wife Lori of Houston, Texas, Melissa Webb Eulberg and husband Rick of Norman, Oklahoma, Dacia Williamson Snead of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Acacia Williamson Brueggen and husband Shane of Louisburg, Kansas, and Drew Williamson and wife Constance of Stillwater, Oklahoma; ten great grandchildren, Tara Blackburn Johnson and husband Rick, T. J. Blackburn, Christopher and Ethan Eulberg, Chisteny and Bryor Snead, Brayton and Sabra Brueggen and Lily and Layton Williamson; a step granddaughter, Tiffany McCuistion and husband Josh; and one great great grandson, Collier Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Barbara June Williamson; and four sisters, Golda Iva Parker, Lillie Mae Andricks, Lois Ova Williamson and Aletha Maud Coldsmith.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23rd in the First Christian Church in Blackwell with the James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Perkins Cemetery in Perkins, Oklahoma.

Casketbearers will be Drew Williamson, Matthew Williamson, Kyle Williamson and Scott White.
