LARRY GENE THOMPSON

27 Mar 1947 - 21 Jan 2018

Larry Gene Thompson, 70, passed from this life on Sunday, January 21, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Perkins Cemetery in Perkins, OK. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry was born to Gene and Mattie Lee Thompson on March 27, 1947, in Perkins, Oklahoma.

He was previously married to Lisa (Beeson) Thompson.

Larry and Ginger Thompson were married on December 11, 1993.

Larry graduated from Perkins High School and attended Oklahoma State University wearing crimson and cream supporting his beloved sooners. He then pursued a career at Covercraft Industries. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Perkins, OK.

Larry was an avid collector of OU memorabilia and loved all things OU. His family and dogs were the most important things in his life and he loved going to events to watch his grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, LeRoy Shurtz and one nephew, Ricky Lee.

Larry is survived by his wife; three daughters, Brandi Brown of Broken Arrow, OK, Barbara Gibson of Moore, OK, Tracy Gainey (Shawn) of Norman, OK; seven grandchildren, Taylor Spainhower (Ross), Perkins, OK, Tyler Shannon, Tulsa, OK, Brena Brown, Broken Arrow, OK, Ashtan Gainey, Norman, OK, Breya, Ceatyn and Calyb, Moore, OK; three great grandchildren, Rylan, Ryett and Sterling Spainhower. Sister Darla Shurtz-Woody and numerous nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family you are encouraged to wear your favorite college attire.
