June L. Yaunt, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 in her home at the age of 82 years.

June was born on June 30, 1927 in Cushing, OK to Earnest Hunter and Ruby Pearl Campbell Hunter.

She was united in marriage to Joe Thomas Yaunt on October 31, 1941 in Drumright and to this union five children, JoAnn, Mary Lou, Tommy, Becky Sue and Carol were born.

Joe preceded her in death on December 5, 1989.

In 1992 she met Bob Scott, who plays with a band that plays for nursing homes, senior citizens and for various occasions. She became their secretary for many years and enjoyed listening to the music and all the fellowship.

June was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Church, where she had also been baptized.

She worked for the Resthaven Nursing Home for 13 years as a medication aide and had worked for the City Drug Store for 5 years.

Survivors include her loving companion of 17 years, Bob Scott, of Cushing; five children, JoAnn Harmon and her husband Roy of Sour Lake, TX, Mary Lou Jones and her husband Bobby L of Cushing, Tommy Yaunt and his wife Sharon of Cushing, Becky Sue Phillips and her husband Scott of Inola, OK and Carol Todd and her husband Eugene of Cushing; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Ogdon and his wife Merl and Jim Hunter and his wife Lacretia; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert Hunter and James Ogdon and one sister, Helen Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Free Will Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Serving as casketbearers are Bryan Harmon, Jason Yaunt, Justin Yaunt, Tyler Yaunt, Cory Williams and Jason Pierce.
