Bobby L. Smith, 76, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in Oklahoma City. The family will greet friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, March 23 at Strode Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby was born on November 7, 1938 to Wallace R. and Dessie V. Smith in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. He graduated from Enid High School, Enid, Oklahoma. On September 4, 1960, Bobby married Elaine in Enid.

After high school, Bobby entered the U.S. Army where he had a distinguished 35 year career. He served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, and Puerto Rico.

He retired to Beaumont where he went to work for the Texas Department of Corrections. He and Elaine resided in Beaumont until her death in March, 2001. In 2004, he married Shirley and moved to Oklahoma City.

Bobby was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine; parents, Wallace and Dessie; son, Randy; and sisters, Avice, Norma, Reba and Winnie.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one son, Bobby, Jr.; daughter, Robin Shackelford; one stepson, and two stepdaughters. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters.
