Phyllis Mae McMillan, lifelong resident of Cushing, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 64 years.

The daughter of the late Seth Sams and Maybelle Thompson Sams, Phyllis was born on June 27, 1946 in Cushing, Ok and was raised and educated in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School.

She was married to Larry McMillan on January 14, 1965 in Cushing and to this union three children, Larry, Jr., Laura and Lucinda were born.

Phyllis was a longtime member of the Park Place Baptist Church and member of the W.M.U. at the church; she enjoyed cooking, going to garage sales, making trips to Branson and collecting recipes of all kinds.

Survivors include her husband Larry of the home; one son Larry McMillan, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Guthrie; two daughters, Laura Garrison and Lucinda Adams and her husband Ruben both of Guthrie; two sisters, Thelma Thompson of Cushing and Linda Wright of Olive, OK; one brother Bob Sams of Stillwater; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including special friends, Ruth Ann Johnson, Linda Howell, Elizabeth “Sissy” Collins and Kim Kanady.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, Kenny Sams, Charles Marian Sams, Dallas Sams, Armolee Sams, Glenn Sams, Sandra Turner, Dennis Sams, James “Odie” Sams, Joe Sams and Beverly Sprague.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Park Place Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Brown, officiating.

Serving as casket bearers will be six grandsons, Nick McMillan, Brandon Williams, Robert Garrison, Clarence Garrison, Ruben Adams, Jr., and Derek Adams.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the funeral home.
