The gates of heaven opened at 5:00 p.m. on January 14th to welcome home Dolores “Dol” Lucille Lambert. She left this life surrounded by her loving husband, six children, their spouses and most of her 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be Friday in the home at 800 Harned Ave from 3pm to 8pm. A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Stillwater with Father Stuart Crevcoure officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dol will be remembered for her fiery “momma bear” devotion to her family and those in the community who needed help. Her compassionate heart kept the doors of the Lambert house open to many…a hot meal, a warm bed, a shoulder to cry on or just good ‘ole coffee and friendship. All who knew Dol attest that God broke the mold on Jan 15th, 1935 when she was born in Caldwell, Kansas. Dol was the third child of farmers Carl and Irene Schmidt. Dol made a career as stay-at-home mom and wife. She believed in work hard, play hard (occasionally). The family’s favorite memories include extended camping trips, tennis, Scrabble, and of course tons of work in the house and yard.

W.A “Bill” Lambert took Dol as his wife almost 60 years ago on July 31, 1955. Together they raised six children in Stillwater, Oklahoma. All are living full lives: Lincoln Lambert and his wife, Joyce, live in Stillwater and are parents to Shannon, Will, Cory, and Trevor. Shannon married Robert Clemons and they have two sons Griffin and Grayson. Daniel Lambert and his wife, Debi, live in Oolagah and are parents to Chad (married to Kelsey) and Lynnie McMains. Tim and his wife, Keri, live in Prosper, Texas and are parents to Hannah, Nathan, Jordan, and Tabitha. Mark and his wife, Julie, live in Stillwater and have sons Grady, LeeVan, and Stone Lambert. Laurie married Blake Ballweber and is living in Luther, Ok with their children Micah, Mariah, Israel, and Isaac. Lisa married Dennis Helm who together are raising Caleb, Nathan, Brianna, and Gabbi in Edmond, Ok.

She is also survived by her brothers, Don Schmidt of Dallas, Texas and Mel Schmidt of Denver, Colorado and sisters, Veronica and Mary of Wichita, Kansas.

Her parents, along with sisters Lucy and Gloria are dancing on the streets of glory with the Lord.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Dolores Lambert c/o Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey 5804 W. Monastery Rd. Hubert, Oklahoma 74441-2454.
