Dorothy Louise Hansen, 94, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in Justin, Texas. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at Salem Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy was born on November 2, 1920 in Britton, Oklahoma to Alfred Jerry and Blanche Arminta Rogers, the eldest of three children. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1937.

She married Lawrence “Larry” O. Hansen in 1939 in Norman, Oklahoma. They had two daughters, Darla Sue and Karen Kay. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt.

Dorothy and Larry first moved to Stillwater in August, 1947. They left for a short time, but returned in 1949 so Larry could accept employment with the Veterans Agricultural Training Program. They remained in Stillwater until 2010 when they moved to Denton, Texas.

In the early years of living in Stillwater, Dorothy worked as a sales clerk at the “Tot and Teen” shop. It wasn’t long, however, that she accepted a position as a medical assistant to Dr. Orville M. Rippy, where she continued to work until retirement.

She and Larry were very active in their community as well as their church. After her retirement, they became active members of the Stillwater Medical Center Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels program.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; granddaughter, Nova C. Vaughan; and two younger brothers.

She is survived by daughter, Karen K. Vaughan; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Tom Holland; five grandchildren, Debbie Whatley, Tracy McFadden, Jenifer Rose, Barry Brisco, and Thomas Holland; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Stillwater Medical Center Auxiliary Foundation, PO Box 2408, Stillwater, OK 74076; the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 S Duck St, Stillwater, OK 74074; or the Judith Karman Hospice, PO Box 818, Stillwater, OK 74076.
