Ruby Lee Brannon, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 90 years.

The daughter of the late Wesley Gentry and Corabell Washington Gentry, Ruby was born on August 1, 1918 in Red Bird, OK.

Ruby was a second mom to many, including Barbara & Brenda Weaver. She not only took care of their homes, but those families that lived there. She worked hard, never complained, always had a smile and loved us all. She has taken care of three and four generations of families in Cushing and cared deeply for each of them. Through hardships and disappointments, her faith and her stamina were never ending, a constant example of what you can achieve with each. She will be missed greatly, loved eternally and remembered forever. An angel has gone home.

Ruby enjoyed sewing; baking and playing dominos.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Raymond Lee Brannon, III of Tulsa, Jimmy Brannon of Mounds, Pamela Brannon-Smith-Hathorn of Tulsa and Kermit Lee Brannon of Phoenix; fourteen great-grandchildren, Sean Brannon of Dallas, Tywanna Brannon of Tulsa, Anuica Brannon of Dallas, Chauncy Brannon of Kentucky, Darrell Carter of Tulsa, Maurice Smith of Tulsa, Dennis Mooreland of Shawnee, Chandrell Mooreland of Cushing, Tyrone Mooreland of Shawnee, Kermit Brannon, Jr. of Tulsa, Sharya Brannon of Tulsa and Jimmy Brannon, II, Tersa Brannon and Tonya Brannon of Florida; niece Ella Mae Dickens of Stillwater; great-niece, Ruby Dickens of Stillwater and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Ray Brannon of the Cushing Police Department; one sister, Rosa Lee Vicks and one brother, Edward Lee Gentry.
