Roy J. Blankenship “Jay” as those who knew him, age 54 a longtime resident of Cushing passed away on June 27, 2015 at his home in Cushing.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing. Pastor Randy Whitlow will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.

Roy was born on May 12, 1961 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Roy C. Blankenship and Evelyn (Hopson) Blankenship. He grew up and attended school in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in 1979.

Roy attended the University of Oklahoma, before taking a job in the oilfield.

Roy was a hard worker, he managed the Sonic in Mannford for a number of years, he also worked as a truck driver before his health forced him to take a desk job for Avis Rental Company.

Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his true passion was riding his Harley Davidson across the country.

Roy is survived by his mother: Evelyn Blankenship of Cushing, one brother: Joe Blankenship and wife Shelly of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Becky Champlain and husband Robert of Pryor, Paula Brensing and husband Joe of Drumright, Hootie Tinnie of Cushing, Shortie Pierce of Cushing, Dian Blankenship of Cushing, Rhonda Bagwell and husband Noel of Cushing, and one Godchild: Jayme Blankenship.

He was preceded in death by his Father, grandparents, great grandparents, two brother’s in-law, and partner Vickie.
