Lester L. Benthall, Jr., retired electrical contractor, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2007 in Drumright at the age of 79 years.

The son of the late Lester L. Benthall, Sr. and Maude Chase Benthall, Lester was born on July 25, 1927 in Port Arthur, TX.

He moved to Drumright as a small child with his parents and family and attended and graduated from Drumright High School.

Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, Lester attended Oklahoma State University, and was later employed at Tidewater Oil Company until its closure in 1955 and at that time becoming a self-employed electrical contractor. He worked on many Cushing residences and commercial buildings and did contract work for a great many oil companies. He loved his profession.

He was united in marriage to Vocille James on June 2, 1950 in Cushing and to this union two daughters, Freda and Cindi were born.

Lester was a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder.

He was a member of the Cushing Masonic Lodge #111, 32 Degree Mason with his Consistory at Guthrie; a member of the Akdar Shrine of Tulsa; a member of the VFW and a veteran of World War II; enjoyed playing golf, both water and snow skiing, hunting, fishing, was active in the Boy Scouts, receiving his Eagle Scout Award; camping and boating. He also loved to dance and travel.

He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Vocille Benthall of the home; two daughters, Freda Bradshaw and her husband Rick, and Cindi Benthall both of Edmond; two grandchildren, Jill Frances and her husband Matt of Zurick, Switzerland and Ryan Bradshaw of Edmond; one sister, Nita Hoylman of Oklahoma City; one brother Jack Benthall of South Carolina; several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 2 P.M in the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Tom Stewart, pastor officiating.

Serving as casket bearers will be Richard Wintz, Jon Vaught, Jon Wattenburger, C.L. Sadler, Rick Bradshaw and Ryan Bradshaw. Serving as honorary casket bearers will be Bob Vaught, Ashley Loveland, Bill Williams, Dale Cowley, John Griffeth and Willard Johnston.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening, January 23, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
