Graveside service for Meta Pearl Fitzgerald, 86, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Hinton Cemetery.

Meta Pearl Fitzgerald loving mother and grandmother went to heaven to be with the Lord on October 6, 2005 in Cushing, Oklahoma. She was born on April 28, 1919, in Olustee, Oklahoma.

She was a graduate of Hinton High School and Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha where she earned her degreein 1953. She was a teacher for 39 years, twenty-two of those in the Chickasha Public Schools. She was named Teacher of the Year in 1977.

Meta was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chickasha. She belonged to Teacher Retirement, Delta Kappa Gamma, Philo Mathis, Chi Beta, and Kappa Kappa Iota and also served as state president of Kappa. She was also an artist painting with the advanced art class.

Survivors include: three children: Curtis Fitzgerald and wife Christine of Enid; Carolyn Smith and husband Robert of Drumright; James Fitzgerald and wife Jeanette of Boulder, Colorado; one sister; Cleo Courtney and husband Odell; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Hinton Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
