Dottie L. Day
Funeral services for Mrs. Dottie L. Day, 67, were held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Crawford officiating. She died Feb. 27, 1987 at her home in Okemah. Mrs. Day was born at Sugartree, West Virginia on Sept. 13 1919. She and George Day were united in marriage at Midland, Michigan on March 11, 1941. The couple had made their home in Okemah from 1963 until 1973 and from 1983 until the present time.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and had received numerous awards for her 20 years of volunteer service to the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the owner and operator of the DD Tower Company,
Survivors include her husband, George E. Day, of the home; two sons, Jimmy Day, Fort Worth, Texas, and Kenny Day, Okemah; one daughter, Jan Stanford, Okemah; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Elkins, New Lexington, Ohio, and Mrs. Frances Hudson, Costa, West Virginia; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth H. Egnor, Brentwood, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Robert, Andy, Kristi and Kendra Day, and Jennifer and Holly Stanford, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Victor Day, Bill
Day, Gene Day, Gordon Day, Darwin Loney and Buck Jones. Interment was as 2:30
p.m. in the Yale Cemetery in Yale under the direction of the Parks Brothers
Funeral Home.
