Silas "Loyd" Arnold

Silas “Loyd” Arnold, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on August 23, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 90 years.

The son of the late John Oscar Arnold and Mattie Elizabeth Raffety, Loyd was born in the Oak Grove community on August 18, 1917 and was reared and educated in this area.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Irene Dulany in November of 1938. To this union four children, David, Patsy, Margaret and Nancy, were born. Dorothy preceded him in death on October 22, 1994.

Loyd enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his favorite wolf dog.

Survivors include his children, David Arnold, Patsy Cross and her husband Don, Margaret Cordray and her husband Roy and Nancy Lyon and her husband Homer, all of Cushing; ten grandchildren, Don Cross, Jr. and his wife Tresa, David Cross and his wife Julie, John Cross, Justin Cross and his wife Debra, James Chastain and his wife Tammy, Jeanette Ferguson and her husband John, Bill Lyon and his wife Rhonda, Shelley Endicott and her husband Brian, Joshua Lyon and Stormy Lyon; thirteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends, including a special friend Dortha Carpenter.

In addition to his wife and parents, Loyd was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and John and one sister, Opal Hull.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in the Harrell Cemetery with Sonny Johnston officiating.
