Alice Meeker Grandstaff

On Wednesday of this week, at the home of her nephew, Martin Meeker, Mrs. George Grandstaff died at the age of about fifty years. Mrs. Grandstaff has been a sufferer for a long time with cancer and for the past several weeks has been in this city at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Turner. Mrs. Turner is her sister. The funeral will occur this afternoon and interment made in Highland Cemetery in this city. She is survived by her husband and one married daughter.

Alice Meeker was born in Adair County, Mo., on October 8, 1875. At the age of sixteen she joined the Christian church and has since endeavored to walk in the steps of the Master she loved. She was married to William Peterson, November of 1892. To this union was born one daughter, Buleah. She was remarried to Geo. Grandstaff on February 7, 1898; she departed this life on November 8, 1916; age 41 years 1 month.
She leaves her husband, and daughter, Mrs. L. E. Grandstaff, of Skedee; four sisters: Mrs. H. T. Bailey of Henryetta; Mrs. Joe Turner and Mrs. A. L. Moore of Pawnee and Cleveland; five brothers: Thomas, John W., Jas. A. and Leroy, who live in northern Missouri and Charles C. of Pawnee.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, by A. J. Bradshaw of Columbus, Kansas.
