Funeral ceremonies will be held Thursday, September 19, 2003, 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, for Jackson Smith who passed away September 13, 2003.
Jackson was born May 4, 1921, in Fairland, OK, to parents, John N. Smith and Martha Hampton Smith. He proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the 554th A.A.A. Division and served in the Rhineland, Central Europe, Normandy and Northern France. He was awarded four Bronze Stars for his distinguished service to his country. Jackson retired from Texaco in 1984 where he served as union steward for 20 years. He was also a member of the Cherokee Indian Nation.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Josephine; daughters, Judy Smith Simmons and her husband, Glynn of Redondo Beach, CA, Cindy Smith of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Geoff Simmons of Sacramento, Victoria Simmons and her husband, Paul of Elk Grove, CA; great grandchildren, Rhiannon, Gabrielle and Jackson
Simmons of Sacramento; sisters, Molly Hudson, Genevieve Morgan, Martha Mapp and Bertha Caples and numerous other loved family members.
