Hollis Roley Morris, age 100 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on November 23, 2018. Hollis was born in 1918, on a farm and ranch near Hugo, Oklahoma to Roley James Morris and Estella Morris. He was one of eleven children.

Hollis married Ella Ruth McFerron, on August 18, 1946, she preceded him in death in 1999. He later married Nona McPherson on March 12, 2005.

Hollis served in the Oklahoma National Guard, regular 3 year enlistment, from 1936-1939. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, traveling and horseback riding. Hollis loved pastoring and Bible teaching.

He graduated from Hugo High School in 1935 and then attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma and received an A. B. Degree in 1945. Hollis also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas he received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree in 1949, Master Religious Education Degree in 1949 and Master of Divinity Degree in 1975.

Hollis was Superintendent of Missions for Frisco Baptist Association for 3 years and Pastor of churches in Oklahoma and Texas for 39 years. After retirement from full time pastorate, he sold real estate till age 95. This was in addition to interim pastorates and pulpit supplies. Hollis preached his last sermon in the spring of 2018.

Survivors include his wife Nona Morris of the home in Guthrie, daughter Linda Amen and her husband Rodney of Edmond, son Hollis M. Morris and wife Connie of Prague, son Mark Morris of Fairbanks, Alaska and son James Morris and wife Nita of Oklahoma City and his brother Marcus Morris of British Columbia, Canada. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brad Amen, Angie Watson, Holly Cantrell, Katherine Scott, Zack Morris and Stephanie Sherwood and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bruner, Griffin Amen, Grayson Amen, Hannah Watson, Sam Watson, Simon Watson, Owen Scott and Ella Scott. He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth and grandson Kevin Amen.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma with Dr. Blake Gideon and Pastor Jerry Miller officiating. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma with Jay Kindsvater officiating. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
