Dr. Jack Forrest Berry, DDS retired and widower of Mrs. Betty Lou (Spencer) Berry, 85, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 in Choctaw, OK.

Funeral services for Dr. Berry will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, in the sanctuary of the First Christian Church, Barnsdall. Mr. Leon Martin will be the officiant. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Ethel Reece Cemetery by the Arnold Moore-Barnsdall Funeral Home.

Dr. Berry will lie in state in the Arnold Moore-Barnsdall Funeral Home where family and friends may call for their visitation.

An Oklahoma native, Jack Forrest Berry was born at Beggs, OK on December 21, 1921. He was the son of Jewel Knox Berry and Ruth Alice (Riddle) Berry. Jack was reared and completed his education in the Barnsdall Public Schools. He was graduated with the Senior Class of 1942 from the Barnsdall High School.

In October, 1942, Jack entered into service to his country with the Seabees and was attached to the Air Force, 813th AAF Base Unit where he received Asiatic Pacific Theatre ribbons with two Bronze Stars and a good conduct medal. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on October 20, 1945.

On June 4, 1946, Jack and the former Betty Lou Spencer were united in marriage in Barnsdall where they lived before moving to Kansas City in 1953 while Jack attended the University of Missouri School of Dentistry. Following the completion of his education there, he and Betty relocated to Wichita, Kansas and established a dental practice in 1957. In 1966, the Berry's came to Tulsa, OK and established a dental practice where he and Betty remained until his retirement in 1988. Betty preceded him in death on March 31, 2004 and Jack remained a resident of Owasso, OK, living in retirement until recently moving to Choctaw, OK to be near family.

Jack was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors are his daughters and son-in-law, Mrs. Dana F. Burgin and Carlton of Choctaw, OK and Mrs. Donna K. Penrod of Edmond, OK; three grandchildren, Andrea Smith, Sara Penrod and Jeremy Burgin; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Ms. Ruth J. Todd of Barnsdall, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Joe Spencer Berry; daughter, Beverly Gay (Berry) Angell; granddaughter, Jackie Renee Garrison; his mother; father; and sisters, Mrs. Dorothy (Berry) DeMoss and Mrs. Dessie (Berry) Todd.
