H. Wahaneta Hodges, longtime resident of Shidler, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She had reached the age of 99 years, 9 months and 23 days.

Wahaneta was born February 2, 1915 in Marietta, Ohio, the daughter of John Boyd Casto and Ella Hazel C. Smith Casto. She moved with her family to Dewey, Oklahoma at the age of 5. She attended school In Copan, Oklahoma and was married to Alfred Tommy Thomison on June 24, 1931. The couple moved to Shidler in 1943. After Mr. Thomisons death she was married to William Hodges on February 15, 1976.

She was a longtime homemaker but at one time was employed at the Shidler OTASCO store, as well as Hammers Grocery in Lep, Jabaras Grocery in Webb City and the Webb City school lunch room. She was a member of the Shidler United Methodist Church. Her enjoyments were gatherings with her family, cooking, sewing, traveling, camping and four wheeling, which she loved.

She is survived by one son, Boyd Thomison and wife Ellen, of Fairfax four daughters, Joyce Mehl and husband Ray, of Redmond, Washington Linda Bethel and husband Melvin, of Shidler, Anita Nail and husband Don, of Kingfisher, and Jayne Thomas and husband Cactus, of Sugarland, Texas one brother, Jack Casto and wife Joann, of Bartlesville and one sister, Billye D. Evans of Bartlesville a special friend in Carolyn Long 8 grandsons, 9 granddaughters, 46 great grandchildren, 72 great great grandchildren with 3 more on the way and one great great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents two husbands one infant daughter, Lorella Ann Sissie Thomison three brothers, Harry Casto, John Casto and Lawrence Casto three sisters, Madge Nolen, Sue Sears and Maxine Bjorkland, two grandsons, 3 granddaughters and one great grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Shidler United Methodist Church with Bill Long presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
