MASINO, Jr., Delfino, Del" (74)

Passed away on Tuesday, June 15th, after a valiant fight against lung cancer. Born in Schulter, OK, on September 9th, 1929, to Italian immigrants. Del moved with his family to Southern California in 1934.

A strong-willed, competetive man, Del moved through life with fierce determination, achieving success in many areas. He loved to recall his high school days where he excelled in gymnastics and football. He developed a passion for boating, water-skiing, and drag boat racing. A member of the National Drag Boat Association, in the early 1970s, his boat Playmate won world records for blown-gas flatbottom and blown-gas hydro. Del was a plastering contractor for over 40 years; he truly loved his work. In 1992, he opened his first of three soundstages, Delfino Studios in Sylmar.

A devoted family man, Del is survived by his wife Linda; sons Michael and Jeffrey Masino; daughter Cheryl Foerster; stepson John Phillips; grandchildren Angela, Richard, Chantal, James, Jake, and Tanner; and sister Carmen Donia.

Del touched many lives with his caring and generosity. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and loving family.

A viewing will take place from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 20th, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura. Memorial services will be held at the same location at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21st.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the John Wayne Center, 2200 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90404

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
