James Benjamin "Jim" Lane, a resident of Henryetta was born February 28, 1929 east Of Dustin, Oklahoma in McIntosh county and was the son of Roy and Josie Bailey Lane.He passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 in Henryetta, Oklahoma at the age of 78.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1952 during the Korean Conflict and served two years on the Panama Canal. He was a jungle expert in the 33rd infantry Regimental Combat Team. He opened Lane's Service Station in Henryetta in 1959 and operated it until his retirement in 1977. He was a Quail Hunter in his younger life and enjoyed crappie fishing in his retirement. He was a hard worker, a loving husband and father and a good neighbor. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Louis Lane.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Edna Lane of the home;one son, David Lane, Wilson;two sisters Ethellea Frye, Okmulgee, and Margie Huffman, Whichita, Kansas.
Pallbearers will be Scott Gillin, Brian Harjo, Jace Vassaur, Woxie Ryal, Bubba Harjo, Donald Fields. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Doneti, Doyle Cunningham, Foster Garrett, Eural Robinson, Henry Bezinque, and Larry Baucom.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Church Of Christ officiated by Vance Smith. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.
