Murl E. brown born to Joe and Flora Brown on June 29th, 1924 on Tiger Mountain in McIntosh County. He passed this life on January 1, 2006 in the Okmulgee Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Wanda (Hester) for over 60 years. Survived by 3 Sons: Kenneth and Tamae Brown of Hitchita, Junior and Judy Brown of Midwest City and Wendall and Nancy Brown of Afton, OK. A daughter Janice and Dennis Crosby of Henryetta. Grandchildren: Jeff and Tammy Brown, Mike and Carlye Brown, Will and Cassie Brown, Sherri Crosby, Jody and Carlos Ortiz, Kim and Jimmy Heath, Mika and Bart Barton, Sandy Brown, Kelly and Casey James, Wendy Brown and Whitney Brown. 14 Great Grandchildren and numerous Nephews and Nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Carl and Jim and a sister Faye Parker.
Murl lived a full and happy life. He worked at Okmulgee Tech before entering the Army. During the military he was a corporal in Company G, 513th Parachute Regiment. He was captured in Belgium. He received 2 Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Ribbon and the American Theater Ribbon. Wounded in action, a POW, in several Military hospitals and a disabled Vet. After service Mural farmed and worked on road construction for G.W. Cook, as a roofer (hot oil), the oil field and PPG until it closed. He then went to work at Okmulgee Tech until he retired at 62. Murl enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting for arrowheads, but most of all his family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Garis, Dr. Sandlin, Nurses and Staff at the Okmulgee Hospital for giving him such excellent care during his 2 week stay there.
Family will be receiving friends at the Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00pm Contributions can be made to the Lackey Cemetery, Hitchita,OK.
Graveside services will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Lackey Cemetery in Hitchita, Ok with Rev. Wendell Brown officiating. Services under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
