Steve was born on June 15, 1951 in Oklahoma City to Lois June and Ronald Murl Barnes and passed away on April 25, 2004 in Bakersfield of congestive heart failure.

Steve came to Bakersfield as a child. He attended local schools and graduated from South High in 1969. He had lived in Oakland for the past 20 years.

Steve was preceded in death by his father and leaves behind to grieve his passing, his mother, Lois Barnes Gastineau; 2 brothers, Don Barnes and Gary Barnes; 4 sisters, Anita Harris, Cathy Bertrand, Beth Gastineau, Judy Hill; and a large extended family and friends.

No services are scheduled. It was Steve's wish to be cremated and placed with his father at Greenlawn Cemetery.
