JERRY BENDA
October 16, 1927 - April 17, 2013
Jerry Benda was born October 16, 1927, on his family's Kingfisher farm.
Jerry was the youngest of five sons born to Tony and Bessie Benda who were Czech immigrants.
He graduated from Cashion High School in May 1945. He enlisted in the Army in 1946 and was discharged September, 1947.
In 1948 he married Sylvia Zoubek at the Yukon Czech Hall.
He served as an officer of the Union City School Board, Lions Club, and Canadian County Water Board. He continued farming and welding up until his death.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Bessie Benda, and brothers, Tony, Stanley, Henry, and Victor, and son-in-law, Danny Carlisle.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of 64 years; and four children: daughter Nancy Novosad and husband, Sam Novosad; son Gary Benda and wife Dianne; daughter Colleen Benda-Carlisle, and son Paul Benda and wife Bekki.
He is survived by six grandchildren: Chris Novosad, Sammy Novosad and wife Gena; David Novosad and wife Chloe; Alan Benda and wife Christine; Ashleigh Benda, and Jessica Benda, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in The Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil's Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahhoma, on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will be at the Czech National Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
