Marguerite Elizabeth Cook White passed from this earth to the presence of her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Marguerite was born August 22, 1920 in Hallett, Oklahoma, the second daughter of Clarence Edward Shaw and Mable Agnes Cole Shaw. Her family moved to Dallas County, Texas in 1927. Marguerite graduated from Richardson High School in 1938 and married Homer Allen Cook the same year. During WWII they lived in Dallas while her husband served his country. After the war, they moved around several cities in western and central Texas, finally returning to Dallas in 1953. Their final move was to Oklahoma City in 1956 when Homer went to work for the FAA. They had three children. Marguerite worked for several years as a cafeteria manager for Putnam City Schools. She and her husband were active members of Putnam City Baptist Church. Marguerite enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, church work and, most of all, her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Jane Cook Hoag and son-in-law, Edward Hallack Hoag of Edmond, OK and her son, David Allen Cook of Oklahoma City; also grandson, Jeffery Wayne Haog, his wife Deborah and great-grandsons, Matthew Daniel Hoag and Luke Nathaniel Hoag, and grandson, Gregory Bryan Hoag and his wife, Nancy and great-grandson, Colin Gregory Hoag and great-granddaughter, Caroline Kay Hoag. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Homer Allen Cook, her daughter, Patsy Ruth Cook, her parents, two brothers, Clarence Edward Shaw, Jr. and Dennis Cole Shaw, and sister, Cora Jane Gunn. She was also preceded in death by Roy E. White whom she married after Homer passed away.
Marguerite’s family is very grateful to the staff of Sterling House, Santa Fe in Edmond and to Good Shepherd Hospice for the love and care they have given her in the past many months.
Viewing will be Friday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 7-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Saturday, July 11, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
