Terry S. Alviola was born on February 8, 1924, in Dipolog, Zamboanga, Philippines, to Pedro Alviola and Lutgarda Siokin. His father was a Philippine Constabulary Officer. He lived in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Philippines, until his early 20's. Terry graduated as Valedictorian of his high school class. He was a student at Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila when the Japanese attacked Manila. He served in the Philippine Army as a guerrilla fighter during World War II. After the war, he was a student at Silliman University at Dumaguete, Philippines. He won a scholarship to study air traffic control with the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City. He met Jean A Johnson at a breakfast program during his training, and they married October 2, 1951, in Oklahoma City. He later graduated from Oklahoma City University with honors in civil engineering. Terry was a member of Northwest Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Jean; his son, Breck; his three daughters, Kim, Leslie, and Teri Dawn, and the men who love them; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Northwest Church of Christ with burial following at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
