Services for Horace Chilton Gordon were held Tues., Feb 27 at 10 a.m. at the Okemah Church of Christ with Roger Thompson and Hobart Davis officiating. He died Feb. 24 at his home North of Okemah at the age of 80.
He was born May 5, 1909, at Emery, Texas and moved to Oklahoma a young man. On April 21, 1934, he married Miss Virgie Lee Davis and they have lived in the Mason community for the past 56 years. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virgie Lee Gordon, of the home; five daughters and four sons, Cleta Banner, Mason, Leta Dyer, Paden, Leora Ruthland, Okemah, Jo Ann Christensen, Edmond, Darlene Massey, Mason, Will Gordon, Tahlequah, Bill Gordon, Okemah, Robert Gordon, Stroud, and Eldon Gordon, Stroud. One son Herschal and one daughter Kathy preceded him in death; 24 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Atlas Butler, Sulpher, and Irene Taylor, Vallejo, Calif.
Interment was in the Morse Cemetery under the direction of Webbs' Funeral Service.
Pallbearers Pall bears were Billy Gordon, Reggie Ruthland, Bobby Ruthland, Bennie Christensen, Gordon Christensen, and David Gordon. Honorary pallbearers were Jody, Bryan, Robbie, Johnny and Brandon Gordon, and Jerry Dyer.
