Funeral services were held April 18 at Springfield United Methodist Church for Laura Marie “Fat Girl” Wind. Rev Chad Smith and Rev. Rachel Boyiddle officiated at the services.

Ms. Wind was born Nov. 17, 1978 at Claremore to Lucinda Cook and died April 14. She attended school at John Adams in Oklahoma City where she was involved in a program for gifted children. She was always two grades ahead of her classmates.

The family then moved to Okemah where she attended Bearden grade school during her seventh and eighth grade then went to Mason High School where she graduated in May 1997.

She was an active member of Alabama Ceremonial Ground and a member of Alabama-Qussarte Tribal Town. She was baptized April 12, 2006 to Springfield United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death was grandfather, George Cook, and cousin, Jason William Cook.

Survivors include her daughters, Yannah Lewis Wind and Destiny Drew Wind-Long of the home. He parents Lucinda and Thomas Yarholar of Clearview: a sister Wendy, and brother-law, Lee Tilley and their children. Yaf’ke, Eli, Mary and Jordy, all of Okemah: grandmother, Ella Cook, Okemah; her best friends, Tonya, Ashley and Felicia Guinn, Okemah: and aunts and uncles, Barbara and Buford Harjo, Bristow: Carol and Charley Taylor, Jessie and Sonny Givens, George Cook and Adam and Namio. All of Okemah: Beans and Randy Smith, Payden: and Chebon cook, Okmulgee: and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Chebon Cook, Adam Cook, Sonny Givens Charlie Taylor, Randy Smith and Rabbit Givens. Honorary bearers were Big Harjo, Levi Harjo, Sam Givens, John Severs, Lee Tilley, and Kenndy Wise Talamsy.

Internment was at the Cook Family cemetery south of Okemah under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home.
