Car Flips, Kills Driver; Two More Die
As Police Pursue Auto in Nowata
Submitted by: Kristy Fox
A Woodward man was fatally injured Sunday when his car went off SH 15 near this northwestern Oklahoma town and rolled three times, throwing him and a passenger out, the Highway Patrol said.
Two men were killed late Saturday in Nowata in northeastern Oklahoma when a car being chased by police for a traffic complaint crashed head on into another car, authorities said.
Dead are:
Roger L. DUnkin, 27, Woodward.
Robert L. Baker, 22, Delaware
Darrell J. Hatcher, 17, Nowata.
Dunkin died at Woodward Memorial Hospital shortly after the accident which occurred about 5 p.m. about three miles west of Woodward.
His passenger, Alain D. Morgan, 19, of Woodward, was treated and released at the hospital.
Baker and Hatcher were killed about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when the car driven by Baker, while being pursued by police and traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to make a curve and crossed the center line, stricking the other car, which was driven by Hatcher.
A passenger in Baker's car, Patrick Hayes, 19, of Joplin, was taken to Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville and reported in critical condition.
