Mrs. Mary J. Hudnall, age 94 and resident of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 in the Claremore Veterans Center.

Mary Jane Sutliff was born on November 4, 1923 in Childers, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Joe Willis Sutliff and Alice (Johnstone) Sutliff. She was raised in Childers and attended Nowata schools. She joined the US Navy, receiving her training in the Great Lakes Training Center. During her service to her Country, she was an Aviation Machinist Mate. She served three years as a member of the USN before receiving her Honorable Discharge. Upon Mary's discharge from the Navy, she moved back to Oklahoma where she met and married Walter Hudnall and they made their first home in Nowata. The couple moved from Nowata to Wichita, Kansas and then on to California. In California, Mary worked for Honeywell in Gardena, California for approximately 10 years. After Walter's retirement, the couple moved south of Nowata. Walter preceded Mary in death and she remained in Nowata until moving to Bartlesville in 2010. In 2013, Mary moved to the Claremore VA Center where she was living at the time of her death. Mary was known as the "Dash Hound" lady of Nowata. She loved horseback riding and raising chickens, catfish and actually all critters. She especially enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; two sisters, Ruth McClure and Ruby Barbeau; and her brother, Sam Sutliff.

Survivors include her children, Edward Hudnall and his wife, Violetta, of Phelan, California, Edmund "Ray" Hudnall and his wife, Cheryl, of Pensacola, Florida, Phillip Hudnall and his wife, Melanie, of Lomita, California, Regina Runge of Foyil, Oklahoma and Mark Hudnall of Bartlesville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
