Lois Faye Tiry was born on July 15, 1948, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Robert R. and Pearl O. (Hunt) Thornbrugh. Her father worked in the oil field when she was growing up, so they moved around frequently. She met and married Robert J. Tiry on November 5, 1971. They have made their home in Nowata the last 25 years. She had obtained her GED and graduated from Pratt Community College where she received two Associate’s Degrees. Lois worked mostly in the food service industry but was also a homemaker and stay at home mother.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of the home; three brothers, Robert Thornbrugh Jr. of Denver, CO, Ted Thornbrugh and his wife Susan of Casper, Wyoming and Paul Thornbrugh of Kansas; six children that includes one adopted grandson: Theresa Davis, of Nowata, Robert Long of Nowata, Janet Tiry of Nowata, Steven Tiry of the Russian Republic of Georgia, Stacy Tiry and husband Chris of Rochester Hills, Michigan and James Tiry of Bartlesville, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Pearl Thornbrugh and one grandson, Johnathon Long.

She loved her kids, but loved her grandchildren “more”.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 12 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Thursday, July 13 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Martin Cemetery, northeast of Nowata, Oklahoma.
