Bob Lloyd Payne

ENID — Bob Payne, 80, passed away March 12, 2013. His graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Shelton Cemetery. Mr. Art Hulet and Mr. Gus Jacobi will officiate. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bob was born January 18, 1933, on a farm near Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Lloyd and Ruby (Ham) Payne.

Bob attended and graduated from Cottonwood Grade School and Stillwater High School. He served his country in the early 1950s in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and traveled to various countries in Europe. Bob spent most of his life as a farmer/rancher. Several summers he worked his way cross country to Alaska, where he did construction work. He also worked in the oil fields of Blaine County. He was a great “handyman,” working for various neighbors. His most recent employment was at Perry Livestock Auction in Perry, Oklahoma, and for Carl Cook Cattle Company. He spent a large amount of time as the caregiver for his mother and other relatives.

Bob accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior as a young man and dedicated his life to serving God.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Mack and Jay and a nephew, Griff Payne.

He is survived by his sister, Aniebel Stevenson; two nephews; five nieces; and 12 great-nieces and -nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to charity of choice.
